The beauty of the fashion fantasy is the potential to imagine and become something, but what is that something? There is so many questions related. Is it real or is it socially constructed? Is it liberating, inspiring, and progressive? Or is it restrictive, prohibitive, confining?
This collection is about deconstructing and then reconstructing that dream. It takes classic glamour attitudes, both feminine and masculine, along with new wave structures, and remixes them with contemporary details and techniques. It is an attempt to acknowledge social constructs of gender, class, and power. Playing with garments and details that are typically understood as masculine or feminine, juxtaposing fitted with oversized silhouettes, using sporty performance fabrics in elegant silhouettes and vice-versa.
Suzanne thinks that in the end, this collection is still a form of simulacra, but it is referential, slightly ironic, and completely self-aware.
